Deeper Description

Perhaps you know of Ouroboros, the snake who devours its own tail? This mythical Greek creature is estimated to have originated around 13 or 14 BCE, and symbolizes the natural cycle of life and death – creation, destruction and re-creation again. Generally a positive symbol, I personally think we could also associate Ouroboros with the optimistic belief that every door that closes, creates possibility for a new door to open. Or, we could associate it with the yogic spiritual philosophy of reincarnation.

In this class, inspired by Ouroboros, we will work towards swallowing our own tails… Just kidding! That would be a bit extreme of a goal for humans. So instead, we will work towards moving the head closer to the toes in our heart-opening backbends. Perhaps this more modest goal still sounds too extreme for you. But, don’t worry! You don’t have to actually touch your toes to your head to reap the benefits from energetically striving for and imagining it.
